GROWTH: ALC Leadership Academy

YES YES PEOPLE!
I have joined the leadership academy at my church.
This Just goes to show that the lord does work in mysterious ways,
and the lord does provide.
i didn't have the money to do this course and was given 5 days to come up with £650 to pay the deposit, which would then mean i'd be payin for the rest in installments (£1400 altogther)

but! within 4 days God provided. thanx to him, my needs were met, i now no longer have to pay a single penny!

i'm now looking forward towards the goal.
my aim is to develop a heart of worship which reflects in my music, my walk with God, and my day to day life...

PRAISE GOD!

...WORD?: Interior Designs for McDonald’s UK by SHH

London based design firm SHH have produced some contemporary interiors for various McDonald’s locations around England. Over the past few years, European McDonald’s restaurants have been updating their interiors to a more modern/contemporary design, and it’s interesting to see the results because everyone around the world can relate to what a McDonald’s usually looks like. In the new interiors, the typical (and uncomfortable) fixed plastic seating is gone, and instead we’re seeing upholstered banquettes, wood tables, and hanging lamps.

IF YOU BUILD IT, THEY WILL COME: 56 Leonard Street by Herzog & de Meuron

IF YOU BUILD IT, THEY WILL COME: 23 East 22nd Street by OMA

Office for Metropolitan Architecture last week unveiled designs for a 24-storey residential tower in New York.
The 23 East 22nd Street tower cantilevers eastwards to provide views of Madison Square Park from the upper floors.
To be completed by OMA’s New York office, 23 East 22nd Street is located just off Madison Square Park in the ‘Flatiron district’. The building will include 18 residences within 24 residential floors. Amenities such as the Creative Artists Agency (CAA) Screening Room, main lobby, pool and gym, are also being designed by OMA, and will be shared with One Madison Park, a second residential tower located immediately adjacent on 23rd Street.

“We wanted to exploit the potential of the building’s scale—more modest than One Madison Park and other residential high-rises emerging in the area, yet larger than the surrounding neighborhood,” said OMA partner Shohei Shigematsu. “This mid-rise condition allows us to create an unusual degree of spatial and programmatic variety in the building,” he said.

As it rises to a height of 355ft (107m), the OMA-designed tower stretches up and to the east gaining additional area as well as views of Madison Square Park as it cantilevers 30 feet over its neighbor.

“Mirroring the traditional New York setback, the building’s form is at once familiar and distinctive”, said OMA founder and partner Rem Koolhaas. “The form provides a number of unexpected moments that appear at each step – balconies at the upper part of the building and floor windows at the lower part—providing a variety of unit types and features throughout the building”, he said.

The building is scheduled for completion in 2010. The project is led by OMA partners Shohei Shigematsu and Rem Koolhaas in collaboration with project architect Jason Long.

The Killer Gerbil x adidas adiartist

Southeast Asian artist The Killer Gerbil was among the short-list of 8 local artists chosen for the adidas adiartist project which gave people a chance to view and witness live paintings and presentations. The Killer Gerbil put his talent and creativity to work at the Raffles City adidas Originals store which was heavily themed in the artist’s Killer Gerbil designs. The stylistic approach took a more orthodox approach as TKG went the paint route as opposed to his familiar spray paint method with highlights including an intimate session with fans resulting in a one of a kind customized iPhone. The Killer Gerbial adidas adiartist exhibit runs until September 19th at the Raffles City adidas Originals store in Singapore.

What Brought Kanye West Back To The VMAs?

'We thought, 'Let's give him a call and see if he's interested' in closing the show, executive producer Dave Sirulnick says.

It's not easy to cap a night featuring powerhouse performances from Lil Wayne, T.I., Kid Rock and more. So when VMA producers wanted to turn their moment into something truly monumental, they knew who to call to close the show: Mr. Kanye West.

"He's one of the most pre-eminent hip-hop performers of his time," said Dave Sirulnick, executive producer of the VMAs. "He makes sure that not only the people in the front row are into his show, but the people in the last row are feeling it as well. Everybody is feeling it the same. He gives that kind of energy. He gives that kind of intensity."

If awards shows are intended to be the introduction to what's big and the culmination of everything fly and huge of the past year, it's tough to argue that West didn't deserve to be a major player in the 25th VMAs. He was tapped as the MTV News Brain Trust's Hottest MC in the Game, and his Grammy-nominated third LP, Graduation, was one of the biggest sellers of 2007. Kanye's Glow in the Dark Tour was not just a highlight of 2008, it was a milestone of his career, proving he can outperform just about anyone in any genre.

"We thought, 'Let's see if he wants to take this opportunity,' " Sirulnick said.

But while Kanye was clearly the man for the job, it wasn't always clear if he was willing to take it on. His blowup after last year's VMAs quickly became the stuff of YouTube legend. Obviously, tempers have since settled down, and his relationship with MTV is back on track. 'Ye even worked with MTV News to honor young veterans in the "Choose or Lose & Kanye West Present: Homecoming" special.

"We know last year — in hindsight — he wanted to close the show. So we thought, 'Let's give him a call and see if he's interested in doing it,' " Sirulnick explained. "He said, 'Yeah, I am.' We sat and talked. We spent some time together."

And so, a larger-than-life, showstopping VMA performance was born, the perfect way for Kanye to premiere a new track.

"The guy's got one of the most successful tours of the year," Sirulnick said. "He has one of the most artistic tours of the year. He always brings it. He brings the intensity. He brings a great performance."
